the curious incident of the dog in the night-time![]() The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night- Time is a captivating experience filled with new surprises from page to page, making this book an instant classic. Narrated by a young man at the age of 15, known as Christopher Boone currently living with Aspergers syndrome. We follow along his journey investigating and uncovering the murder of his neighbours dog. Unintentionally, while investigating, he begins to reveal many hidden secrets about his family, his school and his father who claims to tell him everything. I highly recommend reading this book if you're in need of a good mystery novel with a touch of innocence and the thrill of an adventure in all its subtlety. Christopher Boone To start, Why i think that This is an excellent story is mainly due to the narrative point of view and writing style of this character. as any conflict in the story can be seen as simplistic, through the eyes of any other person but through the eyes of Christopher it can mean life or death. This is a result of his abstract objectivity towards life and the various factors that shape his day to day cycle. For instance, the yellow, red or brown cars that determine the mood he will have throughout the day. Moreover, Christophers life must follow a logical order, for him to function normally in his own version of reality. He explains the essence of this when he states: “ prime numbers are what is left when you have taken all the patterns away. I think prime numbers are like life. They are very logical but you could never work out the rules, even if you spent all your time thinking about them.”( Haddon 19) To some, this is very true but i believe this quote says more about Christopher than life itself as he explains how he perceives life through a simile, comparing life and prime numbers. In his view Christopher believes life is something that for the most part is very logical but he is still unable to workout every aspect of it. All in all, the adventure of Christopher in The Curious Incident of the dog in the Night-time is brilliantly written by author Mark Haddon and an entrance into another world, ruled by the philosophy and mathematics of Christopher Boone.

We our now more reliant on our smartphones, laptops and other devices that possess various tools and services that conveniently make our lives easier. In addition the purpose of technology which is to solve problems succeeds when it comes to math and statistics but fails to improve human problems of the mind, communication, ability, etc. Technology in the lives of young adults In the lives of teenagers and young adults technology has a greater effect. This is a result of teenagers being born into a world where technology plays a big role in society. We know this because every household has a computer, tv or smartphone of some sort. Therefore, having such devices implemented into the mind of any person at such a young age, causes one to develop, function and even grow in a different way than one would do naturally. Also, due to the avid use of technology teenagers have developed the skill of multitasking. The benefit of this is that we are able to complete many tasks at the same time while saving time. Although unfortunately we are also negatively affected because we become easily distracted, lack enough sleep, experience loss of memory and so on. according to a survey done in 2013 millennials are more likely to forget where they put their car keys than people over the age of 55 due to our short attention spans. moreover although there are many benefits to the growing use of technology, there are also many negatives. all of which lead to teenagers and young adults becoming more dependant on technology. The demand for technology What's more, the growing need for technology keeps increasing due to our obsessions with our personal devices. people are now so dependant on technology that many have become addicted to the internet and their smartphones. As stated in a study done in 2012 spending too much time on the internet can potentially cause changes in the brain that imitate habits caused by drug and alcohol addiction. An example of this is internet gamers who neglect food, sleep and being social, all in pursuit of a game. Furthermore, we as consumers demand for more products to be produced. Which is why Society as a whole becomes even more unable to put down our devices for 24 hours. Additionally we have integrated technology so well into our lives that it has even become part of school curriculums in order to teach us new ways to understand it. All in all, technology is here to stay and it will only increase as we demand for more improvements to what we already have. |
